A brief overview of the Melharmony Timeline

The concept of Melharmony proposed by Chitravina N Ravikiran in March 2000 during his collaboration with the artists of BBC Philharmonic, UK for Kalasangam’s Global Echoes at the Millennium Festival

Numerous melharmonic concerts across the globe featuring leading orchestras and artistes since.

Paper on Melharmony presented at Society for Music Theory Conference, Boston by Robert Morris in 2005

Melharmony introduced in USA Schools for the first time in March 2013.

North American Melharmonic Orchestra (NAMO) – Founded in 2012, premiered in March 2013

City of Middleton decrees in 2013 that the 3rd Saturday of every November be celebrated as Melharmony Day.

Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi-J S Bach Twin Composer Festival was held in Madison, USA in Nov 2013, a first of its kind event, simultaneously celebrating the works of two composers from two different cultures and approaches (melody and harmony) who happened to share the same historic timelines. This was followed by the Tyagaraja-Mozart in Nov 2014 and similar festivals are being held every year. . 

University Credit Course on Melharmony offered by Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, USA with Ravikiran and Prof Robert Morris – Aug 2015.

Dikshitar-Beethoven Festival in Madison and OVK-Bach Festival in Chicago (Sept-Nov 2015). 

City of Madison Decrees Nov 8, 2015 as Melharmony Day.

Melharmony concert of Ravikiran with Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra at the Madison City Square enthralled over 45,000. 

Melharmony Foundation initiated the Planet Symphony environmental advocacy and produced Climatrix, a mega virtual production with over 300 artists from 35 countries as a call for Climate Action. 

Melharmony Foundation initiated the Musicians’ Covid Relief Fund (MCRF) to help artists impacted by the Covid pandemic.
